Christianity is about God, and it is not location-based. While christianity that is heaven-based is shallow, christianity that is God-based is deep. God, Himself, is your goal. He did not save you just to escape hell. He saved you to do what He wants you to do.
God saved you to live a life that is rewardable. Your life on earth is an empty cheque, and with everyday you live, you are writing on that cheque. It is what you have written that would be cashed out when you get to the other side.
As a Christian, the following should be the order of your priority in your life:
- God
- Fulfilling your assignment
- Heaven
Understanding Your Ministry is the first thing you need to pay attention to in living a rewardable life. The apostles, pastors, evangelists, prophets and teachers are called to nurture and prepare you for your ministry (Ephesians 4:11-12 NKJV, TPT)
You have a ministry, and you have to fulfil it. God is holding on to you that you have a ministry. On the last day, you will have no excuse for not fulfilling your ministry. (Colossians 4:17 KJV)
God has called you to do a ministry in that field. Don't just do your profession, do your ministry. Don't just pursue a career, pursue your ministry!
What is Ministry?
Ministry is not what you do for God. Ministry is what you do for God by His instruction, under the supervision of the Holy Spirit. You must understand that God will not sponsor or pay for what He did not order for.
There are two types of ministry:
- The five-fold ministry
- The ministry of the Saint
The five-fold ministry is the ministry of the preparers, which is also called the Pulpit Ministry. The ministry of the saints on the other hand is also known as the Market Ministry. Market ministry is as valid and important as the Pulpit Ministry. Everyone is in ministry, which means you are either in the pulpit ministry or you're in the market ministry.
The ministry of the saints is further divided into:
- The ministry of reconciliation
This is the ministry of evangelism, where you reconcile people back to God and get souls saved
(2 Corinthians 5:18 KJV)
- The ministry of stewardship in the local assembly
This is the ministry of serving God. It's a ministry to be in the choir, or ushering, or any workforce in your local assembly.
- The ministry of intercession
As a believer, you have a ministry to reconcile people back to God, be a steward, and also to intercede for people.
