Faith is the receptacle by which you receive everything that grace has made available. (Ephesians 2:8 KJV)
There are three (3) things that look alike, and they are:
Foolishness
Foolishness is a semblance of faith that is based and founded on nothing, yet, it compels you to act on that thing despite lacking substance.Foolishness is empty, and it carries zero conviction about a subject matter. There are actions of foolishness, some of which may include someone who abuses his/her landlord when owing rent, someone who is very sick and throws away their drugs, yet without any conviction.
People who act in foolishness do not have the Word of God in them, yet they act. Unlike foolishness, faith is intrinsic and it produces what you do externally. If there is no intrinsic value, everything that you do outside is foolishness.
Assumption
Assumption is another thing that looks like faith. It is a semblance of faith that is based on the general knowledge of God necessitating or commanding an action from you, without any specific Word in your direction.Instances of actions of assumption includes hearing people's testimony of healing and then expecting to get healed, just like that. The same God that healed them can heal you, but you need to have a personal interaction with him. When you interact with Him (in prayer), He will give you your Word and that will produce. Another typical example of assumption is the story of the sons of Sceva.
Faith
Faith always has something that is spoken to you specifically. The Hebrew word for faith" is "hupostasis" which means setting under. When Jesus said to Peter come, (when he walked on water), that word "come" was the setting under. The setting under is the Word that God gives to you. This is why you cannot have faith without studying God's Word. (Hebrews 11:1 KJV)Faith is not what you declare for God, it is what God gives you to say. Just like it was for Abraham, the utterance that God gives you is what begins your journey of faith. (Romans 4:1,16 - 18 KJV)
There are needs you have in your life. What is God saying to you about that matter? Whatever you call faith will be illegitimate until you have a Word from God. Has God given you a Word? Go back to the Word that God gave you.
