Following God's Plan For Your Life 2; Misconceptions about God's Plan for Your Life

Your future and hope are in the plans of God for your life. The safest place to be is in the plan of God for your life, because in the zone of His plans, there are no disasters.

There are three misconceptions about God's plan for your life, and they are:

  1. Your talents and giftings are always God's purpose for your life
  2. God can have a plan for your life that you have no talent and gifting for. Stop looking at your strength to figure out God's assignment for your life because you may not be good at what God has called you to do, just like Moses when God called Him. (Exodus 4:10-11 NLT)

  3. Your profession is the plan and will of God for your life.
  4. The calling and plans of God can bring you to a departure from your profession. Although your profession may be in line with God's calling, it is not always like that.

  5. A very rich person is in the center of God's will.
  6. Wealth is not the reward for obedience or being at the center of God's will. Earthly success is not the yardstick for godly success. If it was, then it means Paul did not fulfill God's purpose. Materiality, popularity, fame, etc are not yardsticks for the fulfillment of God's plan for your life.

Talking about God's plan for your life, this plan can be categorized into two; the generic plan of God and the specific plan of God for you. There is the general plan of God for all mankind and the specific plan of God for you.

The number one plan of God for mankind is that we come to Jesus. This is His perfect plan; that we are adopted and born into Christ. (Ephesians 1:5-6 TPT) This is the first conversation you should have with an unbeliever, not conversations about destiny. If you are not born again, you should obey the first plan before you begin to focus on purpose and destiny.

Just like a child who did not go through primary and secondary school cannot get into the University, so also you cannot say you know or you are fulfilling God's plan if His very first plan has not been fulfilled in your life. The proper order is that one gives birth to the other and the first order is that you come to the unfolding plan of God that gives him pleasure, which is coming to Christ. Your plan in God begins with you knowing Christ.

Having known Christ, you can now proceed to the next plan of God, which is His specific plan for you. The specific plan of God is you becoming an extension of God in a sphere of influence, which could be governance, media, fashion etc, to bring God's counsel to that area, not primarily to make money. You are not there primarily make profits, but to bring God to people.

Esther's purpose was to deliver the Jews, not to be a queen. Until Esther did this, she was not fulfilling God's plan for her. If you are in a sphere of influence and you are not doing anything to change the evil that is happening, then you are not fulfilling God's plan for your life. This means it is not what you become that is the purpose of God, it is what you do in that sphere of influence.

God wants you to become great so that you can amplify His kingdom. This amplification is done through your platform, which is the career path to which you fulfill purpose. For Peter, his boat was his platform. (Luke 5:3 KJV)

How are you a representation of God's kingdom? Regardless of how big you become, you must be able to say God can use your platform.
