Understanding Your Ministry, Fulfilling Your Calling 4; Four Responses to the Call

There are four responses people have to the call of God upon their lives. There are those that:

  1. Resist the call
  2. These set of people do not accept the call, they just resist it. They blatantly say NO to God. An example is Jonah. (Jonah 1:2-3KJV) Another is the rich young ruler. (Matthew 19:16-22 KJV)

The following are the reasons people resist the call:

    • Not wanting to make sacrifices (Luke 9:57-62; Philippians 2:5-8 AMP)
    • When you are dissatisfied with your assignment and want another

If you leave your call to do something else, you have resisted the call no matter how successful you are at that thing you chose to do instead. No matter how fast you get to a wrong destination, it's still the wrong destination.

  3. Those that pervert the call (Numbers 22:10-32; 2 Kings 5:20-26 KJV)
  4. The following are the reasons people pervert the call:

    • Pressure from people to perform
    • When they want the applause of men
    • Filthy lucre
  5. Those who abandon the call

  6. Examples of those abandoned the call include Judas (Acts 1:16-20 KJV), Demas (2 Timothy 4:10 KJV), Elijah (1 Kings 19:4-16 KJV)

The following are the reasons people abandon the call:

    • Not being patient to endure process when the going gets tough or when they fail or fall
    • When they go through pressure and grave persecution or when they experience challenges and trials
  7. Those who embrace the call

  8. An example of someone who embraced the call is Jesus.

The following are ways to embrace to the call:

    • Agree with the call and identify with it. Accept the call and commit to it.
    • Discern the call correctly. Don't assume the call, be sure of the call. Ask God about it and let Him communicate your call to you.
    • Prepare and be adequately trained. (2 Chronicles 27:6 KJV)

Between when you are called and the time when you manifest ithe call is a season of preparation. Your manifestation is as good as your preparation. One of the ways to get prepared and trained is to serve a another man's vision. Another way is to seek mentorship and let those who have ahead of you train you.

Never look back and follow through with every instruction. Eliminate all alternatives and burn your bridges. In the difficult time, like Jesus, go to the garden of gathsemane and pray God's will over your will.
